BIOGRAPHY

Linda Brandemark (born Malmström) has been writing songs and performing since the early 1990’s. The music swings between folk, country and pop. She has released 4 albums with original songs and her fourth album “Shine On” was released September 2008 on her own label "Moody Maraccas". During the years she has studied music in Canada, toured with a jazz choir as well as a Kurdish folk music band, and played in different constellations in Sweden, France, Germany and Canada.


Linda Brandemark started playing classical guitar in 1988. She attended a music elementary school and was able to continue to do so in high school. She started to write her own songs in 1993 and formed Valley in 1994. She performed at one of Sweden’s biggest local youth music-festival where Linda received the award”best female artist”.

 
In 1995/1996 Linda Brandemark studied music, language and drama at The Mount Baker high school in Cranbrook, Canada. She performed with the concert choir and toured with the vocal jazz choir. She also put together a band (Red Valley) that played frequently during the year. During 1996/1997 she performing with Valley in pubs and Uppsala and was busy writing music. She also opened for a Kurdish band at Kurdish weddings and parties.


In 1998 she recorded her first album: “First Attempt”. She took the record to Canada, got some airplay and toured the Rockies. In 1999 she was the lead singer in Phoam who fronted The Soundtrack of our Lives. In 2001 she released her second album “While You Sleep” and got good reviews from the record companies Sony and Universal. In fall 2002 she participated in cooperation with eight other bands, and released the album “Ockra”.
 
 
                         

 
In June 2003 she went to Toronto, Canada for two weeks, and was performing solo with a guitar and harmonica. In August 2003 she continued touring, this time she went with a band to France. The band performed around 45 songs each night, both cover songs and original tunes.
 
In spring 2004 she went to Ghana, West Africa for two months and got the chance to do a lot of singing in the local gospel church. November 2004 she got signed by Random Recordings and started working on a new album. In April 2006 her third full length solo album “Red Valley” was released, this time on a Record label “Audeo Records” in Uppsala. The album got a lot of airplay and great reviews in Sweden as well as in the USA. In 2008 she released her fourth album, "Shine On" with the Red Valley band on her own record label "Moody Maraccas" (named after her cat...) In January 2009 she got married to fellow musician Mats Brandemark.
